(Part 5 of 5)
Is it valid to park the reader while another aspect gets some air time?
Do I have the right to tell the story as I want to, to lead the reader to discover rather than deliver on demand?
Is it okay to give the inner thoughts of all the characters and not just some?
Do I have the obligation to my readers to have some time-out after being traumatised by the horror of a rape in such a brutal way?
Does it matter if I take the reader out of his/her comfort zone and challenge not only values but also perceptions?
Above all, how do I get the reader to understand the psychological and social processes of an abuse victim?
Hence the need to look inside the head of Jason and Bradleigh.
The mirror image.
The looking glass selves.
The two boys who grew into very different worlds.
But providing that disclosure just for them is not to recognise the influence of and on those surrounding them.
More importantly, does it work? My intentions are but dust if it doesn’t.
That’s what I need to know.
Is your response to my use of alternating POV based on other criteria such as what publishers want, for example?
I look forward to your comments.
Regards
Eddie
